Do I require a visa?
If you are travelling from overseas and are going to be staying in Australia for longer than 72 hours, you will need to apply for your visa.
Cairns tap water is filtered, fresh and safe to drink.
Currency & Banking
The currency used in Australia is AUD. Please click here for an online converter.
Once you’re here, you can exchange your currency in many places, including at the Airport when you arrive. See here for more info. Cairns only has a couple of foreign exchange shops in the city centre, so try to cash your traveller’s cheques at the airport, as banks will charge you.
If you’d like to visit a bank, it couldn’t be easier as all the main banks are situated in the same area and are all five minute walks between each other. See below for a list of banks:
All the above banks have automatic tellers (ATMs) that will take any international cards and nearly all international networks such as Cirrus, Plus, STAR international ATM mark, Interlink or Maestro POS mark. Travellers should contact their bank at home for information on availability and service charges. The most commonly accepted credit cards in Cairns are American Express, Bankcard, Carte Blanche, Diners Club, MasterCard, Visa and BarclayCard.
ATMs usually dispense money in two lot’s double check for money before leaving the machine.
Use ATMs that are affiliated with your home bank it will save you a few dollars every transaction.

Does the Conference venue offer parking?
The Pullman Cairns International Hotel offers valet parking by way of the Hotel driveway, for a convenient flat rate of $20.00 AUD per vehicle per day for guests of the Conference.
How do I get from the airport to the Conference venue?
Taxi or bus services are available for airport transfers.
Catching a taxi
Cairns Taxis provides door to door passenger transport service throughout the Cairns taxi district. As well as the CBD, this covers the coastal area Ellis Beach to the north and south to Wrights Creek, Edmonton. A taxi fare will be approximately $25 AUD.
Airport Connect is a bus service offered by Sun Palm Transport linking Cairns Airport with the Translink public transport network at north and southbound Sheridan Street bus stops. For further information visit the website for departure times, costs and stops.
Rental Car offices are located in the arrivals facility at the northern end of T2 (Domestic Terminal) and in the Arrivals Hall of T1 (International Terminal). Rental car parking is located in the northern end of the T2 (Domestic) carpark.

What is the dress code for the Conference?
Dress code throughout the day is smart casual. The dress code for the Welcome Reception and Conference Dinner is also Smart Casual.
Where do I register when I arrive at the Conference?
The registration desk is yet to be advised. Please direct any questions you may have regarding registration, session attendance or other elements of the conference to Leishman Associates staff at this desk.

How do I gain entry into the Conference sessions?
Delegates and exhibitors will be provided with an individual name badge, which will give you access to all sessions and social events that you have registered to attend. This must be worn at all times within the conference venue.
Do I receive a Conference handbook and satchel?
All delegates will receive a conference satchel and pocket program when registering at the Conference. The satchel will include promotional information from our sponsors. An electronic copy of the handbook will be available for download from the website and emailed to you closer to the Conference date. There will not be a printed copy available.
Delegates have access to complimentary WIFI for the duration of the conference. Please see the Leishman Associates staff at the registration desk to obtain the password.
How will I know if there have been any changes to the program?
In the lead-up to the Conference small updates will be made to the program. See the latest version on the website . Any changes to the Conference program during the Conference will be announced during housekeeping notices each morning. You may also check with Leishman Associates staff at the registration desk.
Can I photograph or record the Conference sessions?
Delegates are not permitted to use any type of camera or recording device at any of the sessions unless written permission has been obtained from the relevant speaker. A professional photographer will be at the conference, if you have any issues with being photographed please notify the photographer or Leishman Associates staff.
Can I bring my children?
As an equity and diversity initiative in support of delegates with parenting or caring responsibilities, a private room will be available at the conference venue for parents with young children. Live audio from the Plenary, along with presenter PowerPoint presentations, will be available to view from this room. Please note that this room will not be staffed. Attendees are not permitted to utilise this room for babysitting services.
Is there security at the Conference?
The members of the conference organising committee and Leishman Associates accept no liability for personal accident of loss or damage suffered by any participant, accompanying person, invited observer or any other person by whatever means. Nor do we accept liability for any equipment or software brought to the conference by delegates, speakers, sponsors or any other party. Please protect your personal property. Do not leave laptops, cameras, and other valuable items unsecured. Be conscious of individuals who appear out of place and do not wear a conference name badge. Advise Leishman Associates staff if this does not occur.
Conference Code of Conduct
The organisers are committed to making this meeting productive and enjoyable for everyone, regardless of gender, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, nationality or religion. We will not tolerate harassment of participants in any form. Please follow these guidelines:
- Behave professionally. Harassment and sexist, racist, or exclusionary comments or jokes are not appropriate. Harassment includes sustained disruption of talks or other events, inappropriate physical contact, sexual attention or innuendo, deliberate intimidation, stalking, and photography or recording of an individual without consent. It also includes offensive comments related to gender, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race or religion.
- All communication should be appropriate for a professional audience including people of many different backgrounds. Sexual language and imagery is not appropriate.
- Be kind to others. Do not insult or put down other attendees.
Participants asked to stop any inappropriate behaviour are expected to comply immediately. Attendees violating these rules may be asked to leave the event at the sole discretion of the organisers without a refund of any charge.

Registration & Social Functions
What is included in my registration?
Full Registration includes attendance at all sessions during the days of 26-31 May 2019. Full registration also includes name badge, lunch, morning and afternoon refreshments and entry to the Welcome Reception. A ticket to the Conference Dinner may be purchased for an additional cost.
Day Registration includes attendance at sessions on the nominated day of attendance, name badge, lunch, morning and afternoon refreshments on the day of attendance. Day registration does not include tickets to the Welcome Reception, or Conference Dinner. Tickets to the social functions must be purchased separately at an additional cost.
I have special dietary requirements – what do I do?
You must advise the conference managers of any special dietary requirements when you register for the Conference. Caterers at each function will be informed of these. During the day there will be a buffet table offering food suitable for dietary requirements. If you are unsure, please don’t hesitate to ask staff at the registration desk.
IMPORTANT– If your dietary request relates to a life threatening allergy, please ensure that you advise the organisers as soon as possible.
How do I know if I’m registered for a social function?
After registering for the Conference you would have been emailed a Registration Confirmation which lists all social functions for which you are registered. If you require another copy please email Samantha Jordan. A ticket to the Welcome Reception is included in each full registration. Additional tickets for social functions can be purchased in advance through the online form and at the registration desk (subject to availability).
When and where are the social functions?
Can I bring a partner along to the social functions?
Yes, you most certainly can – additional tickets can be booked when you registered online, or through the Leishman Associates office. Please email your request to Samantha Jordan. During the Conference, bookings can be made at the registration desk, subject to availability.
Speaker or Chairperson
I am a Chairperson, what should I do?
Chairpersons will receive an email prior to the Conference, reminding them of their responsibilities. If you are a chairperson and do not receive this, or have additional questions, please contact Samantha Jordan at Leishman Associates (03 6234 7844).
I am a speaker, what should I do?
Please bring your PowerPoint presentation with you when you register. All speakers should present themselves to the Speakers Preparation Room, at least four hours prior to their scheduled presentation time, to upload their presentation. Speakers are also requested to assemble in their session room 5 minutes before the commencement of the session if possible, to meet with their session chair and to familiarise themselves with the room and the audio visual equipment. A technician will be present in the room at all times. There will be facility to test and modify your presentation if required within the Speakers Preparation Room.
How do I book my accommodation?
You can book your accommodation through the online registration form or by emailing Samantha Jordan. You will be asked to provide your check-in and check-out date as well as your credit card details to secure the booking. Payment for your accommodation will not be taken until you check in or out of the Hotel. Delegates are encouraged to book in advance as availability closer to the Conference date is not guaranteed.
How do I pay for my accommodation?
When you book your accommodation your credit card details will be transferred to the hotel you have selected – please confirm this on check in with your hotel. Your credit card will not be charged until you check in or out. If the credit card you intend on using to pay for the accommodation does not belong to you, the Hotel will require an authority form to be signed.
I would like to change or cancel my accommodation booking?
Please email Samantha Jordan to cancel or change your accommodation prior to the Conference. If you need to cancel your accommodation booking within 30 days of your arrival date any cancellation fees will be subject to the hotel cancellation policy. Therefore, no accommodation refund can be guaranteed within 30 business days of the Conference. If you alter your accommodation booking after you have checked in, please deal directly with the hotel. If you arrive 24 hours later than your indicated arrival day, charges will apply.
Cancellation and Disclaimer
I need to cancel my registration, what do I do?
Cancellations must be received in writing – mail, email – to Leishman Associates. Cancellations will not be deemed to be received until you have written confirmation from Leishman Associates. If you have not received acknowledgement within two business days, please contact Leishman Associates on (03) 6234 7844.Cancellations postmarked on or before, 1 month before the Conference, will incur a fee of 50% of the registration amount. No refunds will be made for cancellations for the Conference postmarked after 1 month before the Conference, however substitutions may be accepted.
