Dr. Philip Barrett is an Associate Director in the Praxair Inc. R&D group. He manages the Adsorption Materials group, which specializes in the qualification, development and testing of adsorbents and related materials for a wide range of commercial gas and liquid phase separations and purifications. He has been an industry professional at Praxair Inc. for 19 years, at this point, in the adsorption field. During that time, he has commercialized improved O2 VPSA adsorbents, new adsorbents for air prepuriification and H2PSA, adsorbents for purification of cryogenic fluids and new catalyst and adsorption technology for rare gas production. He is an inventor on 17 US Patents, with 4 Patents pending and has published over 30 peer reviewed publications and 1 book chapter. His research interests include, zeolite and adsorbent chemistry, adsorption kinetics, adsorption fundamentals, and adsorbent scale-up, manufacturing and quality control.
Before his time at Praxair Inc., Dr Barrett studied at the Royal Institution of Great Britain for his Ph.D. in Chemistry from 1993 to 1996. After graduating, he was awarded a Marie Curie Research Fellowship to study zeolite catalysts at the Instituto de TecnologiaQuimica in Valencia, Spain from 1996 to 1999.
